Here’s another classic from Forrest’s Grannmonnie!
makes approximately 1 gallon, adjust for the size of the freezer used
1 1/2 cups sugar
2 1/2 tbsp cornstarch
1 1/2 quarts dry milk powder
1 1/2 quarts hot water
2 1/2 large cans evaporated milk
1/2 can condensed milk
1/2 tsp vanilla
In a large pot, whisk eggs, cornstarch, and sugar. Add dry milk and water and cook on low heat. Add milks and cook until very hot, but do not boil. Stir often, almost constantly. Remove from heat, add vanilla. Let cool 2 hours, stirring occasionally. Freeze according to manufacturer’s recommendation.
